With more than 25 years in the information security field, Alan Brill is recognized internationally as a leader in his field. Brill founded Kroll Ontrack's global high-technology investigation practice. He has an international reputation in the areas of computer/communication security and technology crime investigation. At Kroll, his work has ranged from large-scale information security reviews for multi-billion dollar corporations, to criminal investigations of computer hackers, frauds on the Internet, identity theft, misappropriation of intellectual property, as well as telephone, cellular, and voicemail frauds. Prior to joining Kroll, he was director of the information systems and information security bureau of the New York Department of Investigation, where he served as the senior government official with responsibility for information security, and as a deputy inspector general in the New York City government. Brill received his B.A. and MBA from New York University. He is also an honor graduate of both the United States Army Command and General Staff College and the National Defense University's National Security Management Program.

Michele C.S. Lange is a director in the Legal Technologies division at Kroll Ontrack Inc. Lange tracks the evolving common and statutory law in the areas of electronic discovery and computer forensics. She also helps practicing attorneys integrate electronic discovery into their case strategy. Lange has published numerous articles and speaks regularly on the topics of electronic discovery, computer forensics and technology's role in the law. Most notably, her articles have appeared in the National Law Journal, New York Law Journal, and Corporate Counsel magazine, as well as on Law.com. Lange received her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. She is admitted to the Bar in Minnesota.

 

David H. Schultz, Esq.

David Schultz practiced for seven years prior to joining Kroll Ontrack, primarily in the areas of medical malpractice, wrongful death and injury, products liability, and criminal defense litigation. During his tenure at Kroll Ontrack, he has worked with more than 100 of the nation's top law firms, the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in matters relating to electronic evidence. He has spoken extensively with the media on electronic evidence topics, including appearances on MSNBC's "Cross Talk with Dan Abrams", CNNfn and Reuters Television. Schultz received his J.D. from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minn., and his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. He is admitted to the Bar in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

R. Jason Straight manages a diverse team of experts specializing in computer forensics, network intrusion, data breach investigations, litigation readiness consulting and e-discovery response services. Since joining Kroll Ontrack in 2002, Straight has provided clients with expert advice on digital investigations, tactical e-discovery response and strategic litigation preparedness. He has been involved in or has overseen dozens of complex engagements concerning alleged securities fraud, intellectual property theft, federal antitrust investigations, white-collar crime, network intrusion incidents, loss of personal customer or employee data and all manner of internal corporate investigations.

Before joining Kroll Ontrack, Straight practiced law as an associate in the New York offices of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson where he gained substantive experience representing clients in various matters before the federal antitrust enforcement agencies.

Straight is licensed to practice law in the State of New York and is a member of the Antitrust Section of the American Bar Association, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He earned his J.D. cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, Minneapolis, Minn., and received his B.A. from Macalester College, St. Paul, Minn.

Jeff Pederson

Jeff Pederson is manager of Data Recovery operations for Kroll Ontrack. In this role, Pederson is responsible for the daily operations of the data recovery lab and clean room facilities, ensuring efficiency and quality at every stage of the data recovery process. Further, Pederson oversees the implementation of new or improved data recovery processes.

Pederson joined Kroll Ontrack in 1993 as a cleanroom engineer, where he gained extensive experience utilizing proprietary software and hardware tools to diagnose and repair customer hardware, replicate media, and analyze logical data structures. He also worked as a lab engineer, rebuilding and recovering logically inaccessible customer data from storage media. With over 15 years of experience in data recovery, Pederson has been involved in literally thousands of cases involving damaged media storage devices and drives.

Pederson received his B.S. in electronics technology with an emphasis in computer technology from South Dakota State University.

 

Sean Barry

Sean Barry is a senior data recovery engineer with Kroll Ontrack. He joined the company in 1997 supporting the Disk Manager product. Sean moved to the Data Recovery team in 1998. After data recovery training, Sean joined the Remote Data Recovery group, as the company was launching the patented Remote Data Recovery service. After an exciting year of providing Remote Data Recovery service, Sean relocated to the United Kingdom office to establish the Remote Data Recovery service for the UK and France regions.

After three years in the UK, Sean returned to Kroll Ontrack’s headquarters in Minnesota to focus on providing the highest data recovery solutions for computer data disasters. He also serves as a training coordinator for the data recovery department and authors numerous articles on Ontrack's Web site to help businesses, consumers and government entities understand data loss and the solutions for data recovery.
