Ontrack partners with Mcafee.com to provide customers with complete virus protection and data recovery services

ONTRACK Data International, Inc. (Nasdaq: ONDI), a leading provider of data availability software and service solutions, today announced a partnership agreement with McAfee.com (Nasdaq: MCAF), the leading global Internet Application Service Provider (ASP) of online PC security and management services, that will unite Ontrack® data recovery products and services with McAfee.com's ASP model to create an offering that will benefit customers worldwide.

We carefully selected McAfee.com as a partner, because the correlation between virus protection and data recovery is so closely intertwined,” said Mike Rogers, chief executive officer of Ontrack. “Computer users worldwide will now have a known brand to turn to when their computer suffers from data loss due to a virus infection.

A recognized expert in the data recovery field, Ontrack offers a combination of data recovery products and services. Its EasyRecovery™ software operates with a simple user-interface that easily instructs the user to perform a series of steps to recover lost or destroyed data. This is Ontrack's “do-it-yourself” product that can be used even when your system can't boot up. If a user's computer experiences a more devastating attack or data loss they will have direct access to the expertise of remote data recovery engineers who can help them over a modem or Internet connection. In the event of a more serious data loss situation, such as floods, fire and physical damage, users will have access to Ontrack's in-lab data recovery facilities.

We're very pleased to be collaborating with Ontrack to provide our customers with an option for recovering data,” said Srivats Sampath, president and chief executive officer, McAfee.com. “It is important to remember that data loss is not discriminatory. It can strike a small business or home business just as easily as a Fortune500 company, but this partnership will allow smart PC users to be prepared before they lose data.”

McAfee.com and Ontrack will build a complimentary service offering that leverages Ontrack's leading data recovery products and services. Specific details of the offering will be announced at a later date.
