Imation and Ontrack announce partnership to provide data recovery servicesImation Corp. (NYSE: IMN) and ONTRACK Data Recovery (Nasdaq: ONDI) today announced an agreement whereby ONTRACK will provide data recovery services to Imation’s customers via the new Imation Data Storage Care Center. In response to the significant number of requests received from its customers around the world, Imation will offer data recovery as the first of several services to be provided through the Imation Care Center. Plans also call for data conversion, remote storage, disaster recovery and digital asset management service offerings in the future.
Supported by Imation’s Customer Solutions Services Business, the Imation Care Center will begin operations on June 23, initially providing five-day, 12-hour service in North America. By year end, the Imation Care Center will broaden its service offering to bring customers seven-day, twenty-four hour service worldwide.
The new service helps computer users salvage lost data from hard drives and other storage media that has been corrupted by a wide array of natural and human causes. After customers contact Imation by telephone at 1-888-704-7799, by fax at 1-888-704-7100 or through the World Wide Web at www.imation.com, Imation will perform an assessment of the customer’s data-recovery needs to determine which services are required.
Imation Care Center customers will have the option of using the unique ONTRACK Remote Data Recovery (RDR) service, which allows repair of many software- and virus-related data losses over a telephone line, via modem. In other cases, customers will be offered a full range of traditional data recovery and protection services through one of ONTRACK’s data recovery labs around the globe.

Additionally, as part of its alliance with ONTRACK, Imation will distribute a co-branded version of Data Advisor, a freeware disk-diagnostic tool, in specially marked 10-packs of Imation-brand 1.44 MB diskettes. Data Advisor will also be made available as a free download from the Imation Web site at www.imation.com.
ONTRACK Data Advisor software helps identify potential hard-disk problems before data losses can occur, and also makes Remote Data Recovery possible. Users can run Data Advisor under DOS or Windows to test and analyze file systems and structures, system memory, and the hard drive’s ability to read stored data. When a loss occurs – even when the system will not boot – Data Advisor can be used to diagnose the problem quickly and provide recommendations for resolution of the problem.
