Kroll Ontrack unveils an online portal for e-discovery clients

First-of-its-kind tool provides corporations and law firms with immediate access to critical project details

Minneapolis – May 2, 2007 – Kroll Ontrack, the industry’s largest provider of electronic and paper-based document discovery and computer forensics services, today launched the Ontrack® Discovery Customer Portal, a custom tool that gives e-discovery clients immediate access to project information, detailed reports and processing metrics. Described as “a window into the project activity,” this first-of-its kind portal enables law firms and corporations to access information on-demand, allowing them to take control and make more informed decisions about their cases.

Specifically, the customer portal permits members of a legal team to more accurately forecast the number of reviewers necessary to meet discovery deadlines, prepare document review schedules, monitor progress of the project and plan for production. Through a secure online environment, clients can access these project details at any time with a login and password.

The Ontrack Discovery Customer Portal includes three distinct information areas:

  • Dashboard – This component features a series of charts and graphs, which makes it easy for legal teams to see how much data is at each stage in the Kroll Ontrack e-discovery processing engine, how much passed the filtering process and how much is available for review, thereby allowing users to chart the progress of their project every step of the way. In addition, they can view metrics on a variety of criteria including project, custodian and individual source media.
  • Data Reporting – Comprised of fourteen detailed reports, this area of the portal provides information on keyword hit rates; system files, duplicates, non-hits and other files removed from the data set; and files contained in the review and production sets. This data will enable legal teams to make informed decisions about electronic discovery search strategies and processing.
  • Project information – The Ontrack Discovery Customer Portal provides a forum where the Kroll Ontrack project manager can post important documents relating to the project for members of the legal team to download at any time, including the project’s milestone report.
