Kroll Ontrack experts author new edition of popular electronic evidence and discovery book
American Bar Association Book provides comprehensive insight into the legal and technical complexities of electronic evidence and discovery
Minneapolis – June 2, 2009 – Kroll Ontrack®, the industry's largest provider of paper and electronic discovery, computer forensics and electronically stored information (ESI) consulting, jury consulting, and courtroom presentation services, today announced the release of the second edition of the American Bar Association book, Electronic Evidence and Discovery: What Every Lawyer Should Know Now. With more than 20 years combined experience in the legal technology industry, authors Michele C.S. Lange, Esq. and Kristin M. Nimsger, Esq., provide legal professionals with a cutting-edge and practical guide to electronic evidence and discovery matters.
"The legal and technical landscape has changed drastically from what it was five years ago when the first edition of this book was published," said Michele Lange, director of Legal Technologies for Kroll Ontrack. "For this reason, it is more vital than ever for attorneys, litigation support professionals and IT teams to keep up-to-date with trends and changes in the discovery realm to effectively and efficiently manage ESI for their clients and organizations."
Lange and Nimsger's book supplies readers with practical examination of the complex legal and technology issues involved in electronic discovery. Building on the first edition published in 2004, this book helps lawyers and other professionals better understand the latest techniques for managing electronic data from the server room to the courtroom. It includes analysis of both new case law and renowned e-discovery cases, providing a benchmark for e-discovery cases to come. Furthermore, the book outlines how legal and IT teams can effectively collaborate to manage e-discovery requests.
"We embarked on this new edition with the goal of bringing legal professionals up-to-speed on the sweeping changes in law and technology in the past years and provide guidance for success in the future," said Kristin Nimsger, president of Kroll Ontrack. "As we have seen in the past, judges are no longer tolerant of discovery blunders due to unprepared counsel. Therefore, legal teams must ensure they are e-savvy litigators when entering the courtroom."
Electronic Evidence and Discovery: What Every Lawyer Should Know Now is published by the American Bar Association's Section of Science and Technology Law. For more information or to order the book, visit www.abanet.org/abastore/productpage/5450055 or contact the ABA at 312 988 6112.
