Kroll Ontrack partners with non-profit law firm to provide electronically stored information consulting services
Minneapolis – September 29, 2009 – Kroll Ontrack®, the industry's largest provider of paper and electronic discovery, computer forensics, ESI consulting, and courtroom and presentation services, today announced it is partnering with New York Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI), a prominent, non-profit, civil rights law firm striving to achieve social justice through impact litigation, systemic reform, community organizing and advocacy. As part of this collaboration, Kroll Ontrack's ESI Consulting practice will provide up to 80 hours of pro bono expertise to help solidify the firm's management of electronically stored information (ESI) as it relates to their casework.
Specifically, Kroll Ontrack's ESI Consultants will review and analyze NYLPI's current data management practices to ensure the proper processes are in place. Following review of NYLPI's document retention policy, recommendations for improving retention and destruction processes will be provided, ultimately ensuring enacted policies are in accordance with ESI management best practices.
"Given our deep understanding of document management and litigation support, Kroll Ontrack is in a unique position to help NYLPI further its important mission of providing quality legal services to underrepresented groups and individuals," said R. Jason Straight, senior managing director of Kroll Ontrack's Computer Forensics and ESI Consulting practice. "This project will allow NYLPI to focus on the great work they do on a daily basis while ensuring that proper ESI management processes and policies are correctly and effectively in place for their current and future case loads."
"We are pleased to partner with Kroll Ontrack in developing model practices for our treatment of electronically stored information," said Roger Bearden, NYLPI's legal director. "Kroll's generous contribution of its pro bono services will allow us to focus on our core mission while assuring that we follow proper procedures in our retention and destruction of data."
